Raptoreum,

What is it and what does it mean?

Originally Raptoreum was a loose post Ravencoin launch discussion between a few friends that ended up growing into a development project merging the names raven and ethereum. The main reason for the project was the brilliantly easy to use asset tech from the Ravencoin team lacking the ability to operate without a centralized exchange entity utilizing smart contracts.

A very capable but small team were assembled consisting of 5 core members:

@Charlie 10+ years of systems administration, webhosting, penetration testing as well as running his own webhosting service.

@Tri 10+ years of mixed programming at the highest levels working on multiple forms of AI as well as several years of blockchain projects.

@IamLegion 20+ years of tech work and programming at the highest levels, specialized in blockchain 9+ years, security and penetration testing.

@Raptor 15+ years of systems administration and backend webdevelopment.

@Bigpiggy01 20+ years of programming specialized in systems architecture and ruby backend solutions, blockchain 9+ years and e-learning.

Over the course of the last year of development, the team have passed multiple noticeable mileposts:

  • Implemented an enhanced synch mechanism over upstream codebase.
  • Implemented CryptoNight hashing on a BTC codebase. As far as we are aware, a crypto first.
  • Implemented a custom logic hashing chain that significantly reduces the implementability on ASICS and FPGAS.
  • Contributed with fixes for several critical bugs in the upstream codebase.

Still due prior to launch:

  • Minor adjustment on the hashing algorithm to avoid overly heave hashrate spiking.
  • Live testnet with DIP3 style nodes.
  • Live testing of a custom fix for 6 of the known 11 btc codebase vulnerabilities. Another Crypto first.
  • Launch of the WeUseRtm vendor platform offering small businesses affordable traceability solutions.

Currently well into development and for release over the next year up to the contract layer launch in tentative November 2020:

  • Custom service nodes with ansile/ansible functionality as well as private IPFS for smart contract deployment. 1st at the date of posting, not aware of other projects working on this at the moment.
  • Smart contract protocol expansion.
  • Removal of central points of failure from networking code. 1st at the date of posting, not aware of other projects working on this at the moment.
  • Ghostrider with adjustable memory parameters. 1st at the date of posting, not aware of other projects working on this at the moment.
  • Keybased encryption protocol for all network traffic. 1st at the date of posting, not aware of other projects working on this at the moment.

What does it mean?

With the focus on security and the key fundamentals of blockchain technology, the other interpretation of the name “Home for Raptors” comes to mind. Going back to Latin roots, and the name truly comes through once you look at the security focus.

Overall, this is a strong team currently building what has the potential to become an industry leader.
